Moms Doing Cool Things? What’s that?
MDCT is all about creating fun events that bring people together, and if we can do it while giving back to our local community, that’s even better. Yes, connecting with moms and creating a space away from their typical mom duties where they can rediscover themselves while doing something that sparks joy is a big part of this, but many of our events, like the Lorax Crawl, are open to all – moms and non-moms alike. Plant moms? Yup. Dog moms? Absolutely. Dads? Yep, cool with us! Non-parents who want aura points? Definitely!
Why a Lorax crawl?
Why not?
What if I don’t wear a Lorax costume?
Food and drink specials are only available to those dressed as a Lorax. Plus, you will look like a weirdo showing up to a Lorax crawl NOT dressed as a Lorax. The choice is yours!
Can I dress as a sexy Lorax?
We’re looking for the old school/hairy Danny DeVito version of the Lorax. So…No.
Can I bring my kid(s)?
Why?
No kids? But I thought the crawl was open to all?
It is absolutely open to ALL…
…people without kids. Seriously though. We love kids. Well, we love our kids. Maybe not yours. But that’s beside the point. We’ve earned a chance to spend a few joyful hours away from our evil spawn, haven’t we? Enjoy the break while dressed up in an orange bodysuit with 100 of your soon-to-be-closest-friends!
Where do we start?
We’re starting at 4:00pm at Berkeley Untapped. Meet here to increase your karma through a product or monetary donation to our benefitting charity: The Tennyson Center for Children. There will be live music, a prize for best costume, drink specials for those in costume and BONUS drink specials for those showing proof of donation to the charity.
Where do we go after the start bar?
This is is a floating crawl so you’re welcome to stay at one spot the entire time or hop around to the other participating bars at your own pace. We will hand out maps at the start bar with a list of all participating venues and what special(s) they are offering. We will also update the Moms Doing Cool Things website soon with a list of participating bars.
What charity are we supporting?
The Tennyson Center for Children. TCC has served Colorado’s most neglected, abused, and traumatized children since 1904. TCC offers an accredited, Therapeutic K-12 School and Day Treatment Program with a 4:1 student-to-staff ratio on our campus and in-home. They also offer Community Programs in 12 counties across the state to provide preventive services and therapy to strengthen families with children aged 0 to adulthood
Is a donation required?
Please donate. It’s the right thing to do. And it will make a bunch of kids in our community happier. And proof of donation unlocks fun drink specials at some of the participating bars. Hooray!
Can I donate to TCC before or after the crawl?
Sure, but it would be great if you could donate during the event (either via Venmo or bringing a physical donation) so that your donation gets tracked as part of this special event; so you receive additional drink specials at the participating bars.
Is there a minimum donation?
If you are donating via Venmo at the event, we’re asking for a minimum $10 donation. That said, any donation amount makes a difference so please donate from your heart with what feels appropriate.
